The Heaton & Lostock Labour Party's money all comes from our members and supporters and we raise it in two ways: 1. Branch Socials We have two or three of these each year. There's our traditional "Midsummer Madness Barbecue" hosted by Graham Gough (the Ainsley Harriot of the Branch), our annual Christmas Party and another event such as our famous "New Labour Champagne Brunch" and "Ciabata Supper (maybe without the Ciabata!)". As Labour hero Nye Bevan said, "Nothing's too good for the working class"! 2. The Heaton & Lostock Stakeholder Society Tony Blair once said that we should establish a "Stakeholder Society" in which all citizens play a part in the community in which they live, both as contributors as well as receipients. We took the former Great and Beloved Leader at his word and, just after the 1997 General Election, our then Treasurer, Trevor Roberts, established the "Deane-cum-Heaton Stakeholder Society" (now the "Heaton & Lostock Stakeholder Society"). Members pay just £1 (~Euro 1.15) per week by Bankers Order, have the opportunity to win a monthly cash prize and make a valuable financial contribution to Labour's activities. Our fund has enabled us to do many things to support the Labour cause, not just in our Branch, but in the Bolton West Constituency as a whole and includes:
